Not showing up for your appointment without prior communication will result in a charge of 100% of your appointment service.
In most cases, no — and it's important to understand exactly what that means before assuming a superbill will solve it.
Point Clear Wellness does not accept insurance directly, does not bill insurance companies, and does not communicate with insurance companies at any point. All responsibility for insurance submission, follow-up, and reimbursement lies solely with the client.
Superbills
Upon request, and when all requirements below are met, a superbill may be provided. A superbill is a detailed receipt containing clinical codes that a client may choose to submit to their insurance company. The issuance of a superbill is not a guarantee of reimbursement — partial, full, or otherwise. Point Clear Wellness makes no representations regarding what any insurance plan will or will not cover.
Requirements for a superbill to be issued:
A current prescription or medical treatment plan from a licensed healthcare provider must be on file prior to the session. This prescription must include the correct and applicable diagnosis codes and treatment codes specific to your sessions and acceptable to your insurance provider. It is the client's sole responsibility to confirm with both their healthcare provider and their insurance company that the correct codes are present and that the documentation meets their insurer's specific requirements. Prescriptions must remain current and on file at all times. Expired or incomplete documentation will result in a superbill not being issued.
Session limitations for insurance submission:
Insurance companies typically reimburse massage therapy in units of time, commonly billed in 15-minute increments. In accordance with standard insurance billing practices, any massage session submitted for insurance reimbursement will not exceed 60 minutes in length regardless of the service booked. Sessions exceeding 60 minutes are not eligible for superbill issuance.
Communication requirements:
Any intention to submit a session to insurance must be communicated to your massage therapist before your session begins — not after. Failure to communicate this prior to treatment will result in a superbill not being issued for that session. No exceptions will be made.
Client responsibilities:
It is entirely the client's responsibility to verify coverage with their insurance company before booking, confirm what codes and documentation are required, ensure their prescription is current and contains the correct codes, communicate insurance intent before each session, and manage all aspects of the submission and reimbursement process directly with their insurer.
Point Clear Wellness will not advocate with, negotiate with, or submit documentation directly to any insurance company on behalf of any client under any circumstances.
FSA / HSA
FSA and HSA cards are accepted as payment and are generally a more straightforward path to using pre-tax health dollars for your sessions without the complexity of insurance submission.
What is not eligible for superbill issuance:
The following are not eligible for insurance submission and no superbill will be issued under any circumstances for these services or situations:
Sessions longer than 60 minutes. Add-on services including but not limited to hot stones, back scrub, foot scrub, contrast face massage, and flannel sheets. Any session where insurance intent was not communicated prior to treatment. Any session where a current, valid prescription with correct diagnosis and treatment codes was not on file at the time of service. Craniosacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release sessions — these modalities are not recognized for reimbursement by the vast majority of insurance plans and are excluded from superbill eligibility at this time. Gift card redemptions. Introductory or promotional pricing sessions.
Point Clear Wellness reserves the right to decline superbill issuance in any situation not explicitly covered above where the requirements for issuance have not been fully met.
Not at all — and there is no right or wrong answer here. You are always in complete control of your comfort level.
Most clients undress to their underwear, but you are welcome to remove as much or as little as you choose. Some clients prefer to keep more clothing on, and that is completely respected without question or comment. Your comfort matters more than any technical preference on my end — I work with whatever you bring to the table, literally and figuratively.
You will be professionally draped throughout your session with only the area being worked on uncovered at any time. Your privacy and dignity are always protected.
If you have any concerns or preferences before your session begins, please don't hesitate to say so. There are no awkward questions here.
Yes — always, and by law.
You will be draped with a sheet and blanket for the entirety of your session. Only the specific area being worked on will be uncovered at any time, and it will be recovered immediately once that area is complete. The rest of your body remains draped throughout.
Partial draping and towel draping are not permitted under South Carolina and North Carolina massage therapy law. Any licensed massage therapist operating legally in these states is required to provide full sheet draping at all times. This is not a preference or a policy — it is a legal standard that exists to protect you.
If you are ever in a setting where a massage therapist uses towel draping or leaves areas of your body unnecessarily exposed, that is a violation of professional and legal standards and should be reported to the appropriate state licensing board.
Your comfort, privacy, and safety are non-negotiable here — from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave.
Absolutely — and the choice is entirely yours.
Some people find talking helps them relax. Others drop into a quiet stillness the moment they're on the table and don't surface until it's over. Both are completely welcome here. There is no expectation either way and no awkwardness either way.
What I do encourage, regardless of how quiet or conversational you prefer to be, is speaking up about anything related to your session — pressure, discomfort, a spot that needs more attention, or something that doesn't feel right. That kind of communication isn't an interruption. It's how I make sure your session is everything it should be. You know your body better than anyone, and the more you share, the better I can serve you.
Think of it this way — you can be completely silent the entire time and still have a perfect session, as long as you speak up when something matters.
Most people come in knowing massage helps with muscle tension and pain. And it does — reliably and measurably. But that's often just the beginning of what happens on the table.
When the nervous system feels safe enough to settle, the body shifts out of its default stress state and into something physiologists call the parasympathetic response — rest, digest, repair. Heart rate slows. Cortisol drops. Muscles that have been bracing for days, weeks, or longer finally let go. That's not just relaxation. That's your body doing the maintenance work it hasn't had the bandwidth to do.
The effects ripple outward from there. Better sleep. Clearer thinking. A calmer, more measured response to stress. More energy. Less of that low-level anxiety that hums in the background of a busy life. These aren't incidental side effects — they're what happens when a chronically activated nervous system finally gets a moment to reset.
For most people the benefits last several days after a single session. With regular care, they begin to compound — the baseline shifts, and what used to take days to recover from starts taking hours. That's when massage stops feeling like a treat and starts feeling like a necessary part of how you function.
Your body was designed to recover. Sometimes it just needs the right conditions to remember how.
Regular massages offer numerous physical and mental health benefits, making them an essential part of a balanced wellness routine. Having one or more massages per month can significantly reduce stress, alleviate chronic pain, and improve overall mood. The therapeutic touch of a professional massage enhances muscle flexibility, improves posture, and promotes better sleep.
Additionally, shorter periods between massages amplify these benefits. Frequent sessions can lead to faster recovery from injuries, more consistent relief from muscle tension, and a deeper sense of relaxation. Regular massages also help reduce anxiety, enhance mental clarity, and improve overall emotional well-being. For those with demanding schedules, regular massages provide a much-needed respite, helping to maintain energy levels and focus.
Investing in regular massage therapy, especially with shorter intervals, is an investment in your long-term health and well-being. This ensures you stay at your best both physically and mentally. Book your monthly or bi-weekly massage today and experience the transformative benefits for yourself.
